Lesley is a mixed media artist working mainly in watercolour, ink and collage. She studied textiles and embroidery in Exeter before moving to Melton Mowbray in 2002. In 2010 she turned to paining and is mainly self taught and is rapidly developing an individual and recognisable style. Main sources of inspiration are flowers, seed heads, landscapes and trees, painted in a loose representation of the real thing. Paintings develop quite randomly at times as shapes and colours on the paper emerge. Her textile training often shows in the finished work, backgrounds to flowers and trees can be very textured and stitch like. She has sold to Australia, New Zealand and Europe, as well as in the UK, which shows the universal appeal of her work. Painings have been exhibited recently at the Sock Gallery in Loughborough, The Harbour Gallery Rutland Water ROS and The Victoria Hall Oakham.
