Johnny Paramor originally trained for four years at G Perry & Sons (Leicester) as an Engineers Patternmaker, working in wood and metal.
This led to a degree in Furniture Restoration and Craftsmanship in High Wycombe. A visit to Cornwall in 1994 opened his eyes up to creativity, especially the sea and the landscape. He also visited the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Tate in St Ives.
I am a serious painter working in oil and acrylic. My paintings are abstract and expressive. I attempt to portray emotion, feeling and energy onto the canvas, using thin layers of transparent and opaque paint. The paintings are built up gradually: for me depth, movement and colour are very important.
As an artist and having a need to express myself I continue to work in two mediums. These are Fine Art Painting and Furniture. I find they work together, influence each other, yet able to stand alone.
